The kid's got talent. I mean he can play guitar, harp, and keys well and has a really good voice. He still has a long way to go as far as playing with other musicians is concerned, and I think playing with Phil and the other guys is an amazing opportunity to learn what he needs to so I hope he is taking advantage of it.

I caught the first show of their fall tour in Santa Barbara last year, and while I was impressed by him, he did have a habit of walking over the others, especially Larry Campbell, when it came time to solo. You could see Larry was annoyed on more than one occasion when his solos were cut short by Jackie cutting in.

As far as the Dead material, it was hit and miss with me. Thought he did Sugaree and Loose Lucy well---New Speedway, not so much.

At any rate I am seeing them at the Greek this Sunday, so it will be fun to see how Jackie and the band overall have improved and gotten tighter since last September.
